ICRC priorities in the Americas are fourfold: to protect people deprived of their freedom, to clarify the fate of people missing in connection with past and current conflicts, to protect and assist people caught up in armed conflict and other forms of violence and to promote international humanitarian law and the role of the ICRC.

The ICRC in Colombia

The ICRC's work in Colombia involves protecting civilians, helping displaced persons and conflict-affected communities, visiting detainees and promoting IHL.
The ICRC in Haiti

The Port-au-Prince delegation covers Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti has suffered disturbances, violence and disaster. The earthquake killed hundreds of thousands and left 1.5 million homeless. The ICRC focuses on the most vulnerable, such as victims of violence, prisoners and children separated from their families.
